Honey, Phieuwwwwwww! It's not that we didn't know, but the first year with a baby shouldn't be underestimated, isn't it? And honest? I don't think we'll ever survive again. Sleepless nights! Just as motherhood had to grow with me, fatherhood had to grow with Tom too. Even though we thought we were experienced, the first year with Leana put us both down a bit. At the same time, there are so many beautiful moments and we are now very proud of our small family and we can no longer imagine life without it! Meanwhile, Leana is 7.5 months and we can really close the baby period. Together we did it!

Especially for you, we share our survival tips to survive the first year with a baby:

Dare to ask for help and accept help

This may be our biggest tip of all! The first year with a baby in the house is busy! You sometimes wonder how other fathers and mothers get all this through, but that cannot be done without help. Dare to ask for and call in help. Parents, parents-in-law, friends and acquaintances, .. anyone who offers help, please let them do it! And there is also such a thing as maternity help! Not only fun for the moms but also for the dads, because they can help you with tasks that you might not be used to otherwise. Give each other me time Yes, fathers also deserve me-time, because just because they don't breastfeed and don't always get up at night doesn't mean they don't feel like they have to go on and on. Agree with each other who will take care of the baby when so that you can both relax for a while. Going to the wellness center, exercising for an hour or just watching Netflix for an evening without the baby's crying, that can be incredibly beneficial!

Realize that your time as a couple is coming back

Fathers may still be most bothered by this. He misses you as sweet and only sees you just mothering and care of the children. But realize that all this 'temporary' that time and that you return as a couple. Now especially enjoy your time as a family because before you know it, your offspring will be large and you will miss all those ordinary moments, yes even the crying spells and the nightly hugs of your sweetest babies.
