What is a gender reveal party?
What exactly is a Gender Reveal party, when do you do this and why are they given? Do you know the phenomenon of baby shower? This is indispensable in Belgium, you celebrate the pregnancy and surprise the mommy to be with it! The same applies to the Gender Reveal, you celebrate your pregnancy with this, but more specifically you celebrate the gender of the baby on the way. Whatever the outcome, it doesn't matter! But it is a very important time in pregnancy when the gender is known. And how beautiful is it that you can share and celebrate such a moment with all the people you love around you? Right, super beautiful! So reason for a party, and there is the Gender Reveal party.
But when do you do this?
As soon as the gender can be viewed by an ultrasound technician / midwife, you can schedule a Gender Reveal party. The gender is checked by default with the well-known 20-week ultrasound, but nowadays you can already go for an extra ultrasound at 14 weeks where the gender can be seen! Ideal if you can't wait that long.
But do you have a preference for a boy or girl?
Of course it may be that the expectant mom and / or dad has a preference (this can have many reasons, but that is personal for everyone). But this is not the reason to throw a Gender Reveal party! The approach of a Gender Reveal is that you share an important moment in the pregnancy with family and friends, and not celebrate a particular preference
