Baby 2 months | Leana update

And so is my baby 2 months! Hello, otherwise time will pass too fast!

I wrote another baby update: about the first jump (itching word!),

The bottle feeding, the kind of rhythm we have, the maternity visit and the ultrasound of the hips she received.

First jump

Yoohoo, I feel I just wrote the Leana update for month 1, and so is my baby 2 months! Time flies and Leana is developing very quickly. The real 'newborn' has already been taken off in the past month, although she is still mini in my opinion. I carefully picked up size 62 from the storage boxes and came to the conclusion that we can almost say goodbye to size 56. This chick has worn it for about 7 weeks, haha! Her first jump was also on the agenda. I get seriously itchy from the word "jump", but I must admit that these certainly do not go unnoticed here. My phone has the Oei ik groei! app and in it I read more about what exactly happened during this jump. Wise Child was indeed very restless for a week and cried a lot. That's why we cuddled a lot and when the thunderclouds had disappeared, I noticed that she makes much more contact. She follows with her eyes and smiles broadly when we talk to her. She even makes sounds back. Super sweet! In the meantime, we are counting down to the next jump, which will end at about the time of the publication of this blog if I have to believe the app.

Maternity visit

Until the first update, we only had a window visit. Call it overprotective, but we didn't want to take any chances. There is still so much unknown about the coronavirus and ultimately we as parents decide about the health of our child. What if in ten years' time they say: “aah, I can see it: you have had corona before or not?”. You just don't know what to do right, so we made our choice based on our feelings. After a month, the first maternity visit arrived, but with a distance of 1.5 meters. Great fun, because we have not seen many family and friends for months and everyone was of course very curious about Leana. I must say that that maternity period has ended in my opinion in the past month. I cleaned up all the presents, put the cards in a storage box and put all the photos I took on my laptop. The maternity aids were collected and the self-employed midwife who came to the house did the check-up. Earlier this week I already wrote about having a baby during corona times: it remains a strange experience that we now live in a world in which something like a maternity visit is not obvious. For the time being, we are especially happy that the baby is healthy.

Check up

The food schedule has changed again. I mentioned last time that she did well on the Difrax bottle with premature teat, we have now exchanged it for an S-bottle from Difrax with a size S teat. The diet was increased again and that caused problems. With the size S teat, it took her almost 45 minutes to empty a feed of 150 ml water and 5 scoops of powder, with a larger teat (size L teat) half came out again. So we tried the size M teat and it goes well. Crazy how that can change all of a sudden, but with 6 feeds in a day this was impossible, so I'm glad we found a solution. She does vary the numbers: one day she is on 6 feedings, the other on 5. It depends on how the night goes: sometimes she continues to sleep from 23:00 to 06:00 and sometimes it occurs at night a power supply

Tips for the baby's rhythm

Last week I shared via Instagram Stories and Facebook page that we found our ahythm, 10 points for mom! After that I got quite a lot of questions about how we did that and whether I have any tips for the baby's rhythm. I really can't do more than sharing my own experience. To be honest, I'm doing something too! After all, a baby does not come with a manual, which we will discover here along the way. In the past weeks I have tried everything to see what worked and where Leana did well. At first she slept during the day mainly in the playpen or in the pram in the living room. She had a great need for hugging moments, wanted to be close to us. She slept in the co-sleeper next to the bed in our room. She is a good sleeper, but that gradually changed, she became more and more stimulated by the noise we make. And so I put her in the cradle, which turned out to work. She usually sleeps through the nights, after the morning bottle she lies in the box for a while and sometimes falls asleep there. After the next bottle I put her in the crib, then she wakes up to the bottle that follows and then she is awake a bit more. After the bottle in the beginning of the evening, she wants to cuddle and then she sleeps in the crib again, until the bottle that comes for the night. I make sure that I put her in the crib while she is still awake, but starts to yawn or rub her face. That works better here than when I put her in the cradle asleep. And there is certainly a day in between when she cries a lot, cannot fall asleep or the rhythm cannot be seen in any fields or roads, but actually Leana has been a very happy and easy baby so far. All in all, we have a good rhythm, but I also know that this could all be different tomorrow. No problem: go with the flow. My leave is almost over, although I have been working for more than a month. In the meantime, we fully enjoy!
